Our
Story
We’re Kenneth and Marybeth Showalter, and we live on a small farm in Dayton, Virginia where we raise chickens, sheep, bees, and the occasional ruckus. We’re also the hands behind Arctic Sauna Co., where we build handcrafted barrel saunas — right here on the farm.
In 2023, Marybeth was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Instead of slowing down, she made a bucket list, put “visit Antarctica” near the top, and then decided to build a business to help fund the trip. (Some people take a vacation; we apparently start a sauna company.)
So here we are: crafting beautiful, electric heat barrel saunas that bring peace, warmth, and the scent of fresh spruce to backyards across America — while helping us inch closer to the South Pole. Every sauna we sell supports our dream of standing at the bottom of the world and saying, “Told you we’d make it.”
